About Us
Tamarack Canopy Zipline Tour is proud to have reached an agreement with Tamarack Resort to reopen this world class tour for adventure seekers. This is one of the most beautiful, extreme, and exciting tours available in North America. Come join in the fun and see what zipping is all about.
This is the tours' third season and we have added a new line and restructured the tour pattern. If you've been on the tour in the past, then you will be happy to hear that the fast zips, suspension bridges, and the infamous 110 foot high Ponderosa Pine zips are still running. Come witness these crowd favorites for yourself.
The tour begins with check in at our new building just off the main parking lot. You will be greeted by our friendly staff, processed through your check-in procedures, and then pair up with two of our trained staff. You will walk a short 3 minute hike to our orientation zip lines to receive a safety briefing, gear introduction, and practice a couple shorter zips of around 300 feet long. You will receive instruction on how to steer, zip commands, and other zipping procedures such as not grabbing the cable.
Next you will load up in our transportation and drive up the Summit Road to a little up mid-mountain or about 6,000 feet elevation. You and two staff will hike down a short path to the third zip. Keep an eye open for black bears and elk as then are known to visit the area. This is a long, tunnel-type zip that is faster than the first two zips.
Next you will hike a short distance to the area of the mountain called Granite Gardens. Mountain lions are known to be in this area, hunting for elk! Here, for the brave, you zip off a cliff and carry for almost 1,000 feet, 200 feet high. This zip is a rush, no doubt about it.
Your fifth zip takes you into the Ponderosa Pine platform. Guests are have been known to stand in awe of the tree and what they are about to do; zip into the tree. You can hear the screams of delight and fun for miles around. After a short visit with other guests and the tour staff, you exit the tree, zipping back towards the ground. Guests have also been known to drop to their knees and kiss the ground.
Zip seven is much like zip three, except, faster, longer and higher! It brings you through a lower ravine and presents you out on a large granite rock outcropping by the main mountain chair lift.
Zip 8 begins with a suspension bridge out to an elevated platform off a creek bed. Here you become part of a different eco-system, cooler, and part of the creek environment. Get ready to zip down along the creek, not able to see the ending of the zip until you are past half down the line. As you end the zip 75 feet up in a tree, you walk down a second suspension bridge to exit the tour.
